Hounds for Heroes is a British charity launched in February 2010 to help train and provide service dogs to wounded British Armed Forces and Emergency Services men and women.〔(Hounds for Heroes Information at Charity Commission )〕 This charity is not a official charity in the sense it does not belong to Assistance Dogs UK which is the UK arm of the International body. To belong to ADUK your charity must have met all the strict criteria as laid down by ADUK for membership. As a result by the fact that Hounds for Heroes dogs are not entitled to enter premises as those dogs who charities belong to ADUK. The seven official charity credited to ADUK are Guide Dogs/A I D Dogs / Dogs For Good formerly known as Dogs for the Disabled/ Support Dogs/ Medical Alert Dogs/ Canine Partners/Hearing Dogs In very simple jargon Hounds for Heroes are PET Dogs not official working dogs accredited to enter establishments of those dogs associated with ADUK Also one official dog charity works with armed forces and that is Canine Partners working in Partnership with Help for Heroes. ==Background== Hounds for Heroes was founded in 2009 and registered in February 2010 by Allen Parton, an ex-servicemen who had suffered a traumatic head injury whilst serving in the Gulf in 1991.〔(Allen Parton Information )〕〔(Allen Parton at Hounds for Heroes )〕 The charity was set up in both the memory of his dog Endal, who was sadly euthanized on 13 March 2009, and to help the injured.
